Overview
The Otaue Shinto Service is one of Rice-planting festivals which has been handed down in all over Japan for generations.
At Sumiyoshi Taisha, the ritual takes place in the center of the rice field stage following reproduction of traditional rice planting. The dancers in kimono of a Japanese shrine maiden Miko perform “Yaotomemai”, while men in armor carry out samurai rituals.

History
The Otaue Shinto Service is believed to be started by Empress Consort Jingū, a Japanese empress who ruled beginning in the year 201.
