Overview
Kakunodate matsuri, Kakunodate Festival, is held to dedicate both Shinmeisha shrine and Jioujiyu-in Yakushidou Shrine in Kakunodate Town, Akita prefecture as one of the most authentic festivals in autumn in Tohoku region.
As well as a procession and traditional dances, the festival reaches its peak when the Oyama-bayashi is carried out in which the floats collide with each other.

History
Kakunodate matsuri has a 350-year history as it appeared on documents for the first time in 1694 as the Kashima festival.
