History

When Buddhist monk Kakujiyou(1194-1249) who joined Toshoudaiji temple in 1244, gave the lessons to his followers, he noticed that one of them tried to kill mosquitos.

Kakujiyou told followers to get rid of them by sending wind with a fan rather than killing them since killing other animals is strictly prohibited in Buddhism.
