Overview
Reutaisai or Taisai is the most important annual festival for all shrines in Japan. At Torikoe Jinja Shrine which is located in downtown Tokyo (Taitou ward), it’s held in early or mid-June. Torikoe Jinja Reitaisai is famous for the traditional and authentic style of parade with the heaviest mikoshi (portable shrine) in Tokyo. In the evening, the festival will reach its climax when the parade enters the shrine with carrying the mikoshi decorated with lanterns and surrounded by people with highly held lanterns.
