Overview
Yatsushiro Myoukensai is held as a part of Reisai, which is the most important event of a Shrine, in this case, Yatsushiro Shrine located in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture.
The Shinko matrix consists of 40 deliverables, including imaginary animals “tortoise” (nickname · tortoiseshell) and nine gorgeous Kasaboko (Kasahoko), lion dance, which the tortoise and snake coalesced.Approximately 1,700 citizens participated in the costume of the Edo period and the length was about 1.5 kilometers long. After walking about 6 kilometers throughout the city center, the performance is demonstrated at the river.

History
Myouken-gu, later renamed as Yatsushiro Shrine in 1871, was built in 1186, and the estate of the shrine and the festival have been kept up since 1600.
After the death of Tadaoki Hosokawa, samurai warrior of the late Sengoku period and early Edo period, made the great contribution to the reconstruction of Myouken-gu, Okinaga Matsui entered the castle and succeeded the festival.
